This Year's Reflections

25th January 2013

Our Lady has called us many times to prayer, especially to help her Immaculate Heart to triumph in our sinful world, as she told us on 25th September 1991:
  • Dear Children, today, in a special way, I invite you all to prayer and renunciation. For now, as never before, Satan wants to show the world his shameful face, by which he wants to seduce as many people as possible onto the way of death and sin. Therefore, dear children, help my Immaculate Heart to triumph in the sinful world. I beseech all of you to offer prayers and sacrifices for my intentions so I can present them to God for what is most necessary. Forget your desires, dear children, and pray for what God desires and not for what you desire. Thank you for having responded to my call.
Our Lady is calling us to a life of prayer, daily prayer, especially in our families, in order to be in her embrace, as she told us on 25th August 1995:
  • Dear Children, today I invite you to prayer. Let prayer be life for you. A family cannot say that it is in peace if it does not pray. Therefore, let your morning begin with morning prayer and the evening end with thanksgiving. Little children I am with you and I love you and I bless you, and I wish for every one of you to be in my embrace. You cannot be in my embrace if you are not ready to pray every day. Thank you for having responded to my call.
Our Lady wants us to become witnesses by our love to the love of Jesus, especially through our adoration of the Blessed Sacrament which brings us very close also to Our Lady, as she told us on 25th September 1995:
  • Dear Children, today I invite you to set your hearts on the most Holy Sacrament of the Altar. Adore Him, little children, in your parishes, and in this way you will be united with the entire world. Jesus will become your Friend, and you will not talk of Him like someone whom you barely know. Unity with Him will be a joy for you, and you will become witnesses to Jesus' love, which He has for every creature. Little children, when you adore Jesus, you are also close to me. Thank you for having responded to my call.
Through our life of prayer we become witnesses to God’s love, enabling Our Lady to lead us, as she told us so beautifully in her message through Mirjana on 2nd January this year (see News page).

Some further scriptural connections

Jesus was the cornerstone, ‘whoever believes in him will not be disappointed’ (Is 28:16), the ‘living stone rejected by people but chosen by God’... On drawing close to him, you also become living stones built into a spiritual temple, a holy community of priests offering spiritual sacrifices which please God through Jesus Christ. (1Pet 2:4) This ‘stone, which the builders rejected, has become the cornerstone, and it is a stone to stumble over, a rock which lays people low. (1 Pet 2:7-8; Ps 118:22; Is 8:14)

What this message and the scriptural links imply is that a stone is very solid. You have to take account of it, or it will take account of you and you will stumble. Our solidity as living stones is to be a spiritual one; it comes from our identification with Christ, our faithfulness to his truth and our union with him through prayer.

To give witness to the beauty of our faith is not to exalt ourselves in pride or complacency, but to exalt God’s glory, truth, goodness and beauty, and the beauty of the Gospel, through our trust, surrender, humility, obedience and reverent love.
